PRE-DRAFT

PROS APPLY TO BECOME DRAFT ELIGIBLE

GPI’s Top 1,000 ranked players as of Dec. 31st, 2015 are invited to participate in the Global Poker League’s draft pool.

This means – upon signing a contract with the GPL, players are available to team managers to draft on GPL’s Draft Day (picked up to be a part of that manager’s team) – they MUST go to the team which chooses them on Draft Day.

GPL SELECTS TEAMS’ SELECTION ORDER FOR EACH ROUND OF THE DRAFT

On February 18th, – GPL will draw the order in which the League’s 12 managers select pros in each round of the Draft, for each of the Drafts 3 rounds.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

The earlier a manager’s choosing order is in any given round (i.e. if they have the 1st pick in a round vs. the 12th pick) the more advantageous it is to them, as more players are available. This order needs to be randomized for each of the Drafts 3 rounds in order to ensure fairness.

Managers from all 12 GPL teams will come together in LA on Feb. 25th, 2016 to draft 3 pro players each – one player per team per round – and add to their team line-ups:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE DRAFT

ROUND 1

Based on pre-announced choosing order – each of the GPLs 12 Team managers will choose their first player. Since this is the first round – manager’s choices represent their “top” picks the players they’d most like to have on their teams.

ROUND 2

Based on pre-announced choosing order – each of the GPLs 12 Team managers will choose their second player. Since this is the second round – manager’s choices represent “2nd tier” picks – the players they’d really like to have on their team after their top pick.

ROUND 3

Based on pre-announced choosing order – each of the GPLs 12 Team managers will choose their third and final drafted player. Since this is the third round – manager’s choices represent “3rd tier” picks.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THE DRAFT

In the week following the GPL Draft – all managers must publicly announce who their “Wildcard” picks are – the 5th and final player, chosen at the manager’s own discretion, who will complete each team’s roster.
